#garethsouthgatewould

#garethsouthgatewould has been trending on twitter this week.

Currently everybodies hero, it seems that Gareth is Mr. Nice Guy.....dressed in his immaculate waistcoat and even comforting the Colombian player who missed his last penalty.

Just google #garethsouthgatewould and see some of the nice things that people think he would do.

It got me thinking, it seems that everybody likes a hero...everybody likes a nice guy....a good guy....someone who sticks out for being different (in a good way).

It made me think that we shouldn't need a hashtag to make us sit up and take note. In fact, listen to what Peter writes....

"Live such good lives amongst those around you that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorfy God on the day he visits." (1 Peter 2:12).

I don't remember many quotes, but one that I do, that has always stuck with me, is by Shane Claiborne. He wrote: "Ask the average non-Christian 'what do Christians believe?', and they will tell you. Christians believe in God, Jesus, and the Bible. But ask the average non-Christian, 'how do Christians live?', and most of them are struck silent. Because as Christians, as the church, we have failed to show them an alternative way of living."

Challenging? Convicting?

Why not take some time to prayerfully ponder 1 Peter 2:12 and this quote.
