Soul-Care
Yesterday when we gathered, we thought about caring for our souls…about nurturing, nourishing, feeding, watering…about prioritising that very thing we were created for – relationship with our Heavenly Father.
We thought about how we need time…
..time away from the din.
…time to slow, to speak, to listen, to invite in, to process, to ponder, to dwell upon, to reflect, to meditate, to commune, to pray.
Time to remember.
…to soak in the love of Christ.
…to praise.
Time to be open to whatever our Heavenly Father has for us.
We thought about seeking, thirsting, longing for the very One we were made for.
We need our Heavenly Father as “in a dry and weary land where there is no water” (Psalm 63:1).
And then this morning I read this:
“The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul” (Psalm 19:7).
I smiled.
The Psalmist reminding me again as to the need for soul-care.
God’s Word.
God’s perfect Word.
Refreshing.
Reviving.
Revitalising.
Life-giving.
Cleansing.
Thirst-quenching.
Pure.
Cool.
Necessary.
Vital.
So family, make soul-care a priority.
Time with your Heavenly Father.
Time with His Word…in His Word.
Know the smile of your Father as you sit with him, as you “walk in the cool of the day”.
Enjoy that which you were created for.
